Your frequently asked questions
Which product is most suitable for exterior use as cladding?
What product would you recommend?
Joubert Garant, Joubert Paint Garant and Joubert Primed are reference construction products.
Used on the most outstanding sites, they are perfectly suited to prolonged exposure to bad weather: façades and soffits of houses, provided that the panels are correctly protected (faces and edges) in accordance with best practice.
The natural aspect of wood and management of paint colours are assets which make it possible to meet all the building and architecture requirements for individual or collective housing.
Complies with French cladding regulation DTU 41.2.
I want to make wooden shutters, which plywood would you recommend?
All Joubert panels are designed to be perfectly suitable for the end use.
To brighten up your façade, shutters made of Okoumé Sélection from the Joubert Façade Premium range will provide you with aesthetic appeal, resistance to bad weather, long life, and minimal dimensional change.
This pure Okoume plywood designed for high quality exterior joinery projects was originally created for shutters in the Veneto region of Italy and is now extremely popular in the South of France.
What are the optimum conditions for storing panels?
There are a number of things to remember when storing plywood panels. They should be placed flat, preferably in a dry location, spacing out the spacer strips by 50 cm and aligning the intermediate spacer strips in the piles.
Storage in a temperate room with stable humidity conditions prevents moisture regain which causes the panels to warp.
Are Joubert plywood panels subject to the ISPM 15 standard?
The ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15) standard stipulates that packaging made out of processed woods such as plywood are exempt from the marking requirements.
When the wood is processed, the various production stages subject the veneers and plywood to very high temperatures for drying and baking in a press, thereby eliminating insects and fungi on the finished panels.
What is the difference between a WBP and a CTB-X panel?
The WBP - water boil-proof - denomination is no longer valid insofar as the foreign standards on which it was based have been replaced by new European standards, which define the requirements for gluing plywood. In particular, plywood for exterior use must correspond to Class 3 gluing in accordance with standard NF EN 636.
NF Extérieur CTB-X certification is not compulsory. It is a voluntary approach on the part of the manufacturer to certify the quality of its products. The characteristics demanded by this quality mark go beyond the requirements of the European standards.
The NF Extérieur CTB-X quality mark provides the user with a guarantee of conformity for the quality of the exterior gluing and the mechanical properties of plywood intended for exterior use.
To what does the CE 2+ marking regulation correspond?
To be able to guarantee the use of the panels in structures, the CE standard provides for certification and regular audits of the factory production control system by a notified body at European Union level.
The body designated by France to authorise companies to apply the CE 2+ mark to panels for structural use is the FCBA (formerly CTBA).
What does the E1 standard specified for each gluing of your products mean?
The gluing system used for the manufacture of Joubert Plywood is compliant with the E1 standard.
The EI standard corresponds to a release of formaldehyde below 0.1 ppm in accordance with standard EN 717-1.
I want to complete a LEED® project. Do your panels meet the criteria for this certification?
The Joubert Group offers plywood panels that meet the requirements of LEED® certification, particularly as a result of FSC® and NAUF-certified products, providing eco-performance and helping to build sustainable housing.
What are the advantages of using Joubert plywood panels?
Above and beyond their eco-performance, the quality of the products is typified by dimensional stability, an extensive offer in terms of dimensions, numerous possibilities for interior and exterior use, as well as high durability.
Why is it important to protect the edges?
Protecting the edges is necessary to ensure durability of the product.

Can Joubert Plywood panels be cut with a laser cutter?
To guarantee sanitary quality, Joubert Plywood uses phenolic glue to manufacture its plywoods. Laser cutting is not advised as burn marks appear on the panel in contact with the laser.
Is the quality of both faces of a Joubert Plywood panel the same?
The faces of plywood panels are classified as quality II or III. Most plywood panels have one face that is classified II and the other that is classified III. The face classified II (better quality) is the face that will be visible. The marking on JOUBERT Plywood panels indicates this quality on the best quality face, with the exception of the Okoume Bardage panel that is marked on the other face. Both faces of top-of-the-range products have the same II/II quality: Joubert Garant, Okoumé Sélection, Okoumé Rainuré, Aludoor, Marine Ply, Super Marine Ply and Sapeli Marine.
Can the panels be used on exteriors without being treated or protected?
For exterior use, the faces and edges must be pre-treated using paint, varnish or woodstain. A first coat must be applied in the workshop and two more coats must be applied when the panel has been installed. Only pure Okoume panels are suitable for exposed exterior use.
Is there a difference between NF Extérieur CTB-X plywood and Marine Ply?
Both plywoods have separate certification. NF Extérieur CTB-X certification certifies the properties, performance and fitness for use of plywoods designed for exterior use and for exposure to bad weather (with correct protection of the plywood). This certification is generally required for interior and exterior fitting structural use. Marine Ply plywood is compliant with British Standard 1088: 2018 issued with Lloyd’s Register Type Approval. This is a reference plywood in the shipbuilding industry, and for other waterway and maritime uses, as it defines the gluing, face quality, interior ply and species selection (Okoume is classified as a "lightweight hardwood marine plywood") requirements.
Are all NF Extérieur CTB-X- certified plywoods the same?
Depending on the composition of the plywood, NF Extérieur CTB-X-certified products can differ. Twin plywood is only suitable for use on sheltered exteriors that are not exposed to bad weather directly or for prolonged periods of time. Combiplex and Okoume plywoods can be used for exterior projects once they have been protected in accordance with best practice. Okoume plywood panels offer the highest resistance.
