Joubert Plywood certified plywood panels

The advantage of a very high standard

Joubert Plywood has always offered its customers products they can have complete trust in: certified plywood that is 100% legal and eco-designed for safe use and of high technical, environmental and health quality.

By making the choice of a certified approach very early on, the Group launched the first FSC®-certified Okoume plywoods, followed by PEFC-certified Okoume and Poplar combi plywoods and certified plywoods with a lower formaldehyde content. Joubert Plywood maintains its lead for a very high standard by continuously improving its processes, both on a technical level and on an ecological level. It thereby provides solutions in line with the expectations of its customers, building requirements and the challenges of climate change. Today, all projects are able to benefit from the experise of Joubert Plywood and the certified qualities of its specialist plywood panels.

Ensuring that everyone is able to specify, work and build more optimally and more responsibly by protecting natural resources is standard practice at Joubert Plywood. Its long-standing policy of sustainable management and traceability shared with its forestry partners enables it to produce 100% legal Okoume and Poplar plywoods without contributing to deforestation.

FSC - La marque de la gestion forestière responsable

FSC®

The highest certification level, internationally recognised

With its FSC®-certified Okoume plywoods, the Joubert Group provides the guarantees its customers have the right to expect from a plywood that qualifies for the highest level of green building labels. FSC®-CoC (Forest Stewardship Council - Chain of Custody) protects 10 exacting forest management principles and 57 criteria dealing with numerous aspects of forest management, respect for communities, the rights of nations and workers, as well as impacts on the environment.

PEFC - Promouvoir la gestion durable de la forêt

PEFC

The essential certification, in particular for European timber

Joubert Plywood Poplar panels are sourced from French poplar plantations which are sustainably managed. All of the Joubert Plywood Group's suppliers of poplar are PEFC-certified. This certification is a gauge of trust which guarantees the responsible sourcing of our plywood. Furthermore, it is built into the public procurement tender criteria. PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification proves that raw materials come from forests whose owners are committed to adhering to the rules for responsible forest management defined at international and national level, and on their regional scale.

RDUE

EUDR

Legal timber that does not contribute to deforestation

Tracing the provenance of each log and ensuring that it is legally sourced from a sustainably managed forest is an ethic from which the Group has never wavered. Very early on it focused on selecting its forestry partners based on strict criteria and field and document audits. This approach will enable the Group to be ready for the introduction of the new regulations, which will come into force in 2025, to deal with the pressing issues of climate change and ecosystem restoration. Each timber importer must now have a due diligence system in place and be able to prove the conformity of its supplies (e.g. legally sourced timber, no deforestation, geolocation of plots, respect for local populations). This obligation will also apply to distributers who will have to check the legality of the products they are distributing and keep the required documentation from their suppliers as proof.

The standards clearly authenticate best practices. Their normative certification guarantees conformity along with the levels of safety required regarding different uses of the panels. Joubert Plywood's voluntary certification initiatives also make it possible to innovate with more efficient, healthier plywoods, as well as to contribute to the know-how of its specifier, distributor and corporate customers.

CE

CE marking

Proof of conformity to normative requirements

CE marking under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) certifies that the products concerned meet the 7 mandatory requirements:

  • Mechanical strength and stability
  • Fire safety
  • Health, safety and environment
  • Safe use
  • Noise protection
  • Energy savings and thermal insulation
  • Sustainable use of natural resources

The CE Structure (or CE 2+) mark specifies that an independent notified body verifies the manufacturer's internal control arrangements and compliance with the requirements of harmonised standard EN 13986 Wood-based panels for construction purposes - Characteristics, evaluation of conformity and marking.

CE S / CE 2+

Panels covered by FCBA factory production control certificates.

NF Extérieur CTBX

NF Extérieur CTB-X

French quality mark intended for plywoods for exterior use

The requirements for this mark issued by AFNOR Certification (FCBA representative) are much higher than those for traditional CE marking, particularly regarding the type of tree species used and the control of biological sustainability. Through FCBA's twice-yearly admission inspection and compliance monitoring, this mark guarantees compliance with the following requirements:

  • Dimension tolerances
  • Gluing quality
  • Biological sustainability
  • Mechanical properties
  • Rigidity and strength for structural use
  • Release of formaldehyde
KOMO certificaat

KOMO

This is a Dutch certification issued by SKH (Stichting Keuringsbureau Hout).

It is a recognised guarantee of quality and is required by the Dutch market, both by trade professionals and end users. Continuous controls are performed in the factories to obtain and maintain this Dutch label. They are regularly checked by an SKH agent during on-site visits. The certification established by SKH reinforces the reliability of Joubert Plywood panels and their resistance to bad weather.

British Standard 1088:2018

BS 1088:2018 is acknowledged as one of the most stringent certifications in the world and is the benchmark for all sailors and shipwrights the world over. It specifies the requirements for marine ply used in shipbuilding and in other river and maritime applications. In particular, it defines the requirements for gluing, the quality of surfaces and inner plies, as well as choice and sustainability of the tree species used. Okoume is classified as a durable lightweight marine plywood. Specification BS 1088:2018 makes the performance of in-house continuous quality controls compulsory at production sites.

A+ Air label

Volatile organic compound (VOC) emission level

Since 1st September 2013, all construction and interior design products placed on the market in France have been required to carry a label indicating their level of volatile organic compound (VOC) emission. Joubert Plywood displays level A+ (very low emissions) for its plywood panels sold in France. Precise measurement of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in products is carried out in accordance with ISO 16000.

* Information on the level of emission of volatile substances into indoor air, presenting a risk of toxicity by inhalation, on a class scale from A+ (very low emissions) to C (high emissions).
